    EIC 2016 Munich

At EIC 2016 Dirk Krafzig speaks about a different vision to achieve secure identity federation.
Identity Federation has become an essential business need to modernize capability and adapt to the evolving landscape of computing. The focus to achieving Identity Federation often revolves around product solutions that attempt to solve identity federation with agents, adapters, and rip-and-replace environment disruption.
The session demonstrated how to achieve identity federation in a landscape of existing IdM systems, repositories, directory services, and other user information stores by unifying these capabilities via a federation services architecture tier. It shows how an enterprise can architect a federation solution to expose standards-based identity capabilities while leveraging existing architecture to reduce cost, and reduce the burden of actual implementation and deployment.

    Insight 2016 Nuremberg

Dr. Dirk Krafzig gives a lecture on digitization at the Insight 2016. The contribution: “Digital transformation at the interface between strategy and execution” precedes the basic idea that the implementation of a digital strategy causes great challenges for CIO organizations. On the one hand it is necessary to obtain a complete picture of the pre-digital landscape and the desired target architecture in order to establish a serious and sustainable planning. On the other hand, this planning must occur without compromising the required quality at blistering speed.
He presents a methodology which unites speed and sustainability in the planning of the digital transformation. The starting point is the modeling of the digital business model and the resulting services which are successively broken down into IT functions.
The methodology allows the participation of a wide range of stakeholders in the modeling process including the executives in the business, users, analysts, the CIO, and IT architects.

SOA | BPM Integration Days | 2012 Munich

Dr. Dirk Krafzig from SOAPARK and Mamoon Yunus from Crosscheck Networks will hold at the SOA | BPM Integration Days 2012 in Munich a Power Workshop on the subject “SOA Security Hands-on”. The increasing SOA-ification of traditional application landscapes inspires two contradictory tendencies in companies, namely the opening of internal systems to access by external applications on the one hand and the closing of the same applications for the protection of critical business data on the other. Simple integration mechanisms which effortlessly incorporate security considerations are therefore decisive for the success of an Enterprise SOA initiative in practice. In the “SOA Security Hands-on” workshop, participants learn SOA security principles, common industry standards and practical application scenarios.

SOA | BPM Integration Days | 2011 Düsseldorf

Dr. Dirk Krafzig and Markus Mazur from SOAPARK together held an extended Power Workshop at the second SOA | BPM Integration Days in autumn 2011 with a focus on service modelling. As at the beginning of a design process many people are involved who prefer informal presentation forms, this must also be reflected in the process. It must also be considered that modelling in a formal notation like UML, BPMN or WSDL includes a certain degree of precision that cannot be achieved at an early stage of the design process. The modelling of alternative scenarios, rejections and improvements etc. must follow quickly and simply and be immediately understandable for all participants.
As a result, the design process of an SOA proceeds in two stages: an informal (paper and PowerPoint) and a formal (UML, BPMN and WSDL) phase. The right moment for the changeover from the informal to the formal design must be found based on the concrete organisation. The “SOA Modelling” workshop considers these aspects and provides the participant with a consistent methodology that is tested in numerous exercises during the workshop.

Dr. Dirk Krafzig will hold the presentation “SOA Service Ownership – Social and Political Challenges”. Reusable SOA services are not only realised through good design. The adoption of service owners is probably one of the most important organisational changes on the path to an SOA-capable organisation. Service owners are enterprisers in enterprises. They devise, create, sell, finance, look after and explain their services. Through their work they shake the firmly-established power structure of many IT departments. The resulting social and political challenges need to be mastered on the path to a successful SOA.

    Save money – correctly!

The current difficult economic situation presents enterprises with the challenge of having to implement drastic savings programmes. The goal of these cost-cutting measures can be to demonstrate continuity in the quarterly figures during the crisis period on the one hand, or risk minimisation through the generation of reserve assets for the remaining course of the crisis on the other. Regardless of the targets of the savings measures, they naturally lead to conflicting priorities between the aims of top management and the budget demands of active and planned projects.

    JAX 2009

At this year’s JAX conference, Dr. Dirk Krafzig will hold a presentation on “Service Ownership – SOA Governance Best Practices” on the SOA Governance Day. Many IT architectures have had the experience that large organisations have in the long run tended to produce “IT silos”. Melvin Conway formulated this observation in 1968 already in his eponymous law. It became clear that reusable SOA services are not only realised through good design. This presentation describes an important element for a service-orientated organisation: service ownership. Service owners are enterprisers in enterprises. They devise, create, sell, finance, look after and explain their services.

At the same time, the protagonists of established practices of enterprise IT have taken the ideas of SOA for themselves. One of the currently most fertile grounds is the field between Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) and Enterprise SOA, which will be illuminated in this presentation in a very entertaining way.

    OMG SOA Information Days 2007

At the OMG Information Days 2007, Dr. Dirk Krafzig held one of the keynote speeches on the subject of “Organisational SOA Governance”. The aims of enterprise SOA as well as the expected advantages for large organisations are today relatively well understood and widely accepted. The question of enterprise levels is frequently asked after the concrete introduction of an SOA. How do the long-term transition plans look, and how can they be implemented? The topic of SOA too frequently addresses primarily the technical and architectural levels. This presentation brings the organisational side of the long-term implementation of an SOA to the fore. Through the use of concrete examples, it is shown how the setup and the governance of an ‘SOA organisation’ works.

The presentation “SOA and BPM” held by Dr. Dirk Krafzig at the Connected Systems Architect Forum of Microsoft highlighted the connection between SOA and BPM. The presentation described in particular the mechanisms of enterprise IT governance that allow the use of SOA and BPM beyond the boundaries of individual projects.
